A winning formula for Metropolitan
In an era where knowledge management will gain an
edge in the competitive environment, Metropolitan
places the highest emphasis on training and development
of its human resources.
This
aspect has now gained a greater thrust with the
Organization's strategic shift to providing business
solutions as opposed to stand alone equipment, which
demands tremendous value addition from its people.
Towards
meeting this objective, a comprehensive analysis
was carried out on our Performance Appraisal System
to assess and identify specific training needs from
a latent perspective of the employee. Whilst also
meeting international HR practices, our rewarding
structure based on Key Result Areas were re-aligned
more closely, to be in line with our Corporate Mission.
An
ambitious in-house learning culture is aggressively
promoted through video shows, panel discussions
and stimulating role plays, in addition to presentation
and communicating skills, which is receiving tremendous
interest and participation. Participants are seeing
the benefit of self-improvement and the process
is both encouraging and rewarding to facilitator,
participant and of course to our valued customer.
The above programmes supplement the regular overseas
training provided to our personnel at Principals'
site in addition to our specialised local seminars
and workshops.
Metropolitan
creates a conducive environment for people to excel
and thus has retained a large base of trained and
competent employees.
The
fact that a product of Metropolitan is perhaps in
every 'Office' in Sri Lanka is a clear testimony
